The Vaarniis Lounge chair was designed by Max Lamb. Lamb explains that he began by examining pine; how it is grown, sawn, received, sold. His approach thereafter was logical; choosing off-the-shelf sections of wood and putting them together to create a large surface and a logical shape. Material is scooped out of the building block-like shapes to make two generous convex depressions that reveal the characterful grain within. The result is a strikingly unique chair that is "mathematical in its approach and transparent in its construction," according to Lamb. Despite its weight and massiveness, the chair is designed in a comfortable design with a curved backrest and wide seat to stretch your legs and enjoy quiet moments.

All Vaarnii products are locally produced by a small number of experienced Finnish producers. All pine wood is harvested from sustainably managed Finnish forests. Although their pine is the hardest softwood you can find, it will dent and scratch over time. They ask you to embrace these telltale signs of aging.
